Andrea Kent
Andrea Kent is an interior designer and painter based in Sonoma County, California. Originally from Marin, she started and ran the Oakland-based interior design company, Hawkins Design Group. She has over 20 years of experience working on residential and commercial design and home staging projects in the United States, Panama, and Costa Rica. Her work has been featured on HGTV, and in Diablo Magazine, The San Francisco Chronicle, and the Nob Hill Gazette. As an artist, Andrea is continually creating and perfecting her craft.
Andrea has an eye for finding beauty in the unusual. As a designer, she creates eclectic yet polished aesthetics by synthesizing old and new, sentimental and practical, local and global.
As a painter, Andrea balances playful color with vivid imagery, inspired by everything from world travel to the quotidian life in Sebastopol.
“Something surreal happens to me when I paint. It’s kind of like hearing music while my eyes are closed and watching my mind create the visuals. With paint, tools and my body, I’m putting that feeling on the canvas.”
When she is not painting or designing her client’s homes, she and her husband, Peter, can be found tending to their chickens and two large dogs.
